Psalm 23:6 (ESV): 6  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

all the days of my life,

and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord

Psalm 23 is a beautiful bore. What do I mean? It becomes monotonous and boring because we associate it with something we “should” do or say at a funeral service or liturgical moment.

However, Psalm 23, like so many other things we’ve grown bored with is VIBRANT when we abide and meditate upon it. (which includes discussing, talking and blogging)

The songwriter has presented several images of beauty and truth, but he also included darkness. I mean, when is the last time you wrote something beautiful and included having dinner with people that not only didn’t like you, but were sworn enemies that hated you?

I haven’t written to distract you, I’ve written that to provide a lens and a spotlight for truth about the Creator of the Universe that came to prove how he is pursuing us. He proved this when He came as Jesus in human flesh.

He proved what the Psalm 23 songwriter knew to be true. God…The Father Jesus…Holy Spirit are pursuing us and their essence and identity is “goodness” and “unfailing love” that is pursuing you…stalking you…lurking after you.

You may ignore God. You may not believe in Him. He may fail your expectations. You may continue to revel in sin. You may spit at Him. You may kick at Him. You may rebel against Him…

You may be Christian.
You may be an atheist.
You may be a liberal.
You may be a conservative.
You may identify as LGBTQ?
You may be unsure of any of this “god/Jesus stuff.”
You may be a self-righteous religious person.
You may be Muslim, Mormon, Buddhist, Jewish.

You may be anything you desire to associate or define yourself as.

You may try to talk other people into believing that their lack of faith or disbelief has made God pass them by or even hate them.

But you will never, ever be capable of evading His goodness and unfailing love.

God will never withhold his ruthless goodness or unfailing love from you or anyone else.
